Cleveland Browns: Why They Have The Best Fans
The Cleveland Browns are one of the oldest teams in NFL history. They have been around since they were founded in 1946. They are named after Paul Brown who was their original head coach and general manager. They enjoyed success immediately after their inception winning AAFC Championships in 1946, 1947, 1948 and 1949 and winning NFL Championships in 1950, 1954, 1955 and 1964. They even had an undefeated season in 1948. This original history along with the blue collar style of the people of Cleveland help contribute to the Browns having the best fans in the league.
Ever since this early success there history has been less than storied. They haven’t won Super Bowl ever since its beginning and have not won an AFC Championship either. They are also synonymous with getting close to ultimate success and failing after blowing consecutive AFC championship games against the Denver Broncos in the late 80′s after being ahead late in the 4th quarter of those games. This has hardened the Cleveland Browns fans ensuring that if you are a Browns fan you are a die hard fan because there can be no other kind of Browns fan due to their record.
This was tested even more in mid-nineties when the team’s owner at the time, Art Modell, moved the team to Baltimore. Cleveland got a new team also named the Browns in 1999 and the fans immediately returned in full force to support their team. They immediately started selling out games again and even though the team has struggled to win games since they returned to the city the fans have still come out in full force to support them through thick and thin. These factors combined illustrate exactly why the Cleveland Browns have the best fan base in the NFL. They always show support no matter what the conditions.
